Hecker Guthrie transforms a Melbourne warehouse into a calming yoga studio

Melbourne-based design practice Hecker Guthrie just put the final touches on MOVE’s new timber-clad yoga studio – a calm and tranquility retreat for the everyday urban-worker.

Founded on a passion for yoga, healthy living and a balanced lifestyle, MOVE was born from a desire to create a space for like-minded people to practise, revitalise and nourish. The studio practices Power Vinyasa, leading Hecker Guthrie founders Paul Hecker and Hamish Guthrie to craft a space comprised of two large studios with the latest infrared heating and ventilation systems.

Once an industrial warehouse, the space is now wrapped in blonde timber that add a strong Scandinavian aesthetic to instills a sense of calm on Flinders Lane’s. Dim light fixtures descend from the ceiling, hanging low enough to kiss the floor and repeating, vertical wooden rods curve within the space, reminiscent of flexible yoga movements.
