Bathed in Chrome: Bandit9’s EVE Captured with Konstantin Kofta’s Futuristic Inertia Collection
/Snapshot: Bandit9, a custom motorcycle company, and Ukranian fashion designer Konstantin Kofta decided that “EVE” and the “Inertia” bag collection create a surreal and one-of-a-kind environment when together. Merging the two individually designed projects, they’ve created a series of images that sends us to the future in a fast-paced setting.
It’s ironic that two objects so different in form complement each other so well that they seem destined to be together. Bandit9’s ‘EVE’ follows the shape of the wheel in its form: the body is a smooth, curved rectangular shape that leads into the cylindrical engine underneath. Kofta’s collection features mathematically measured, hard lined geometric shapes with sharp cuts and shapes that reflect precision and movement. Although they might be opposed in shape, both chrome colored designs have a shared energy that creates a complete, dynamic image when the twin ideas meet. The sharp edges of Kofta’s design blend with the chrome, curved shapes to create imagery that defines energy and motion.
Both pieces were designed individually, reflecting the creator’s personal design choices and unique backgrounds, yet they function together to create a scene from the future. Taken by Wing Chan, the images of the two pieces functioning together brings us to a place that feels as if we’re in suspended motion; a surreal, sci-fi narrative created by the merging of the two designs.
Kofta’s Inertia collection manifests the essence of motion in its very shape. The triangular prism pictured sits on top of the rider, utilizing Kofta’s effort to capture the energy of the subatomic world in his series. Eve, crafted in 2014, is a custom, limited run model that was inspired by the 1967 Honda ‘SS’ bike. Bathed in chrome and stripped to fully display its mechanical workings, the motorcycle grabs the attention of onlookers by showing of the pure elements of “the bike” in futuristic form.
Although they may differ greatly in approach to geometry, both pieces work together to create something elegant and futuristic while also presenting the powerful energy of motion.
