The Porto House By Alvaro Leite Siza Vieira

For the love of art, can somebody give Alvaro Leite Siza Vieira the Pritzker Prize! Leite is the son of famed Portuguese architect Alvaro Siza who started giving the world the gift of his architecture in 1955.

Fast forward 61 years and we are looking at Siza's sons most recent project, The Porto House, in a tiny Portuguese town called...Porto. The design of the sculptural house has a strong horizontal axis with tilted angular structural elements to complement it's direction. multiple forms of entrances and exits find their way around the house which creates an open relationship between the interiors and exteriors. White granite, wood, concrete, and stark white interiors make up a museum like feel to house the historical furniture collection provided by the owner. The Porto is a home worth exploring, there is a curious stairway in the home which leads you straight down into an indoor swimming pool!
