Snapshot: Looking through the lens of photographer / adventurer Gray Malin’s camera is a glimpse into seeing the world through his eyes. Where others might see the mundane or ordinary, he sees a bright, energetic exploit everywhere he goes, and it’s a vision he’s set to share with anyone looking for a wondrous retreat. Known for aerial shots of bustling beaches, vibrant green landscapes and iconic getaway spots, Malin takes us on vacation once again, but this time to the bright and sunny shores of Spain in his newest series: Poolside.

Inspired by the 1960’s jet-set lifestyle, Gray Malin arranged for countless brightly colored lifesavers to flood the pristine waters of a resort pool on the coast of Spain for Poolside. Each photo captures an aerial shot above a radiant body of water with candy colored inner tubes sprawling across the aquatic canvas in what only can be described as a relaxed and life-like fashion. In most of the shots, the lifesavers share a color, except perhaps one or so to take center stage –a lemon-yellow inner tube in a sea of cherry red or a smattering of bright blue scattered about a vast ocean of orange. Occasionally, a single individual can be spotted taking it easy in the sun, perhaps reading a book and/or ready to dive into the deep blue. Breaking away from the pattern in other pieces in the series, The Great Escape explodes in a rainbow of colors in a giant, collage that brings to mind a light hearted splash in the sun.

Exemplifying a relaxed day out under the Mediterranean sun, Poolside shows us Malin’s vision of the world: a bright, fun getaway that fully embraces the joys life has to offer in simple surroundings. An Instagram favorite, Gray Malin travels across the globe to capture exciting, vibrant images of the world, be it Sydney, Spain or even Antarctica (where you can see him having a blast in an inflatable swan). You can’t help but feel his infectious love of nature in every snapshot. Also an innovator, Malin uses his iconic photos in cool collections of shoes, iPhone cases and even surfboards!

We get the gift of vacation and adventure in each shot from Poolside. For those of us who have become far too accustomed to our surroundings, Malin brings us a surge of passion that reminds us of the beauty in the world around us and that maybe it’s time to take it easy, kick back and relax underneath the sun in the middle of a bright blue pool.
