The Gay Beards: Two best friends, two best beards
/“I came over to Jonathan’s house in the fourth grade and never left.” Explained a bearded Brian DeLaurenti. And thank the sweet baby Jesus he did, for if not, we wouldn’t be feasting our eyes on the glorious and festive beards that Brian and his best friend Jonathan Dahl have been creating and sharing on their Instagram account, The Gay Beards.
So, how did the Portland-based duo decide to orchestrate joyous chaos in their beards? “We were sitting on the couch one day, we already had the beards but we literally got up and said we should go, take a picture, and make an instagram account!” Brian said with a well-obviously tone.
Ultimately, the two best friends love beards! And have found tremendous amount happiness in decorating them. Ain't nothin wrong with that! Their beard-décor inspiration comes from holidays, celebratory occasions, flowers, food and glitter—basically the best things in life. To make their enviable glitter beards, they start by applying beard oil to their lower locks and then make-it-rain glitter all over their beards. To make their flower beards, they hunt for flowers that have thin, long stems with small flower heads, so that the flowers stay in the beard. Swap the oil for some hair balm and add a shimmer of hairspray. The twosome cuts down the flowers, naming each along the way. (Don’t forget to sing a tune as you're flower trimming.) Last step, stick the flowers into the beard and don’t talk, they may fall out. Happiness ensues.
