Revamping the Eurostar, London
September 7th, 2012 – UK based designer Christopher Jenner has caught our attention with his dreamy rendition of an elegantly designed Eurostar. The designer, who spends much of his time globe trotting says “Traveling from the capital of cool to the capital of fashion, we think the Euro Star needs an urgent make over.”
Often times, designers today will take a futuristic approach to designing the interiors of trains, buses, and automobiles; streamlining their existing look. But, Jenner took a different route. He decided to keep the old, classic elements of a train car, then add in some new. Though the white and yellow tufted wing back seats might look ostentatious and maybe even unnecessary, they actually add privacy for the riders and absorb much of the conversational sound. Most trains are slightly claustrophobic, so the designer added in large windows to allow for the natural light to come in, which opens up the space. Will the Eurostar ever implement this beautifully designed train? absolutely not. But, I’m sure each time Jenner hops on the Eurostar from London to Paris, he closes his eyes and imagines he’s in a luxurious tufted wingback chair!
