The Lightpool Phone
“A cell phone can be felt with joy and fun to use,” The design team at iida explained in regards to their latest cell phone called Lightpool, “time flows around you, light and sound, smell, and signs are emitted by the environment and the emotion of everyday design, the new presence. Phenomena such as fog or sunset, LIGHT POOL directly links to your mind.”
Now days we expect our phone to do everything but tie our shoes (there should really be an app for that!) but the innovative industrial designers at Japanese based iida want your phone to organically appeal to your senses, instead of your every dying need. The geometric design of the phones back is filled with triangular LED’s which light up when it is interacting with music, movement, and sound. The lights will adjust saturation and value arrangements of colors depending on the owners preference. Even the charger for the Lightpool is intriguing, set your phone into the minimalistic white box and it will charge right up! The Lightpool might not have all of the functions of your typical smart phone, but, it’s still a very smart phone!
