Gareth Pugh’s Trim Jacket

November 12th, 2012 - Gareth Pugh took the fashion industry by storm when he paraded his trademark inflatable garments on London’s catwalk back in 2006. But before this fashion powerhouse had his collection stamped onto the pages of high styled magazine, Pugh was designing costumes for the English National Youth Theatre at the tender age of 14 – where he picked up a few theatrical tricks.

As Pugh continues to experiment with form and volume, the garments in his collections are truly wearable sculptures. The Trim Jacket, from pugh’s latest collection is a clever example of this. The jacket is an open-fronted draped overcoat with padded shoulders and scoop pockets on the inside. Even though the jacket is masterfully constructed of numerous types of fabrics, (wool, cotton, lambskin, spandex, and rayon) the solid two toned colors and edgy angular construction makes this piece a relevant urban overcoat!
