Outleir & Feit Pair Up For The Supermarine

We continue to be impressed by Outlier, the cycling fashion house most famously known for their attention to detail, quality, and use of technology on all of their garments and accessories. The urban biking brand recently paired up with Feit to create a handmade water repellent shoe called the Supermarine. We caught up with the team at Outlier who explained a little more about the sneakers and the technique and economics behind them:

“The Supermarines are handmade using traditional shoemaking techniques that today are generally only used by high end dress shoe companies like John Lobb, Alden and Tricker’s. Making shoes by hand allows us to produce small volumes at very high quality levels. It’s not cheap, but the results are worth it and we work hard to keep the costs down by selling direct.”

While visiting their Brooklyn showroom, we couldn’t help but notice one of the associates wearing the sneakers…without socks! but he explained that the high quality material of the shoes are so breathable and comfortable that he often prefers to wear them without socks. Therefore, your shoe bill may be going up, but your socks bill could be going down, which might eventually pay for your new kicks!
